The Capitol Police

The Capitol Police was established in 1895 and is the second oldest state police organization in the United States. Only the Texas Rangers is older.

The Bureau of Police and Safety, often simply called the Capitol Police, maintains a safe and secure environment for employees and visitors to the Capitol Complex. Officers also provide a variety of personal safety training courses to employees.

The Capitol Police is accredited by the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (PLEAC) and has been awarded International Law Enforcement Accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA)
