Green Contracts

The icons below are incorporated into PA eMarketplace to assist in identifying Commonwealth of Pennsylvania statewide contracts that contain green products. On the Search Contracts screen, choose Search By: Green Contracts to locate contracts containing products that meet these programs' requirements.  

 

Product Certifications

Suppliers are encouraged to learn more about product certification programs applicable to their products or services.

ENERGY STAR PROGRAM: A U.S. Environmental Protection Agency voluntary program that helps businesses and individuals save money and protect our climate through superior energy efficiency.

EPEAT™: A system to help purchasers in the public and private sectors evaluate, compare and select desktop computers, notebooks and monitors based on their environmental attributes.

Recycled Content Products:  Section 6002 of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) established the Federal buy-recycled program.  EPA designates recycled content products in the Comprehensive Procurement Guidelines (CPG) and provides recommendations for purchasing the products in Recovered Materials Advisory Notices (RMANs). 

The Chlorine Free Products Association (CFPA): An independent not-for-profit accreditation & standard setting organization. CFPA’s focus is promoting sustainable manufacturing practices, implementing advanced technologies free of chlorine chemistry, educating consumers on alternatives, and developing world markets for sustainably produced third party certified products and services.

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™: This program encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and performance criteria.

Forest Stewardship Council (FSC): An independent, non-governmental, not for profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests.

Green-e:  The nation's leading independent consumer protection program for the sale of renewable energy and greenhouse gas reductions in the retail market. Green-e offers certification and verification of renewable energy and greenhouse gas mitigation products.  

GREENGUARD Certification Program:  An industry-independent, third-party testing program for low-emitting products and materials.    

Green Seal:  Provides science-based environmental certification standards that are credible, transparent, and essential in an increasingly educated and competitive marketplace.

Scientific Certification Systems (SCS): A global leader in independent certification of environmental, sustainability, food quality and food purity claims.

NSF International, The Public Health and Safety Company:  A not-for-profit, non-governmental organization, is the world leader in standards development, product certification, education, and risk-management for public health and safety.
