Matthew Bembenick serves as the Department of General Services Chief of Staff. In this position, he is the principal advisor to the DGS Secretary regarding policy, administrative and technical issues crucial to the smooth operation of the department.
Prior to his appointment, Bembenick worked for the City of Reading, Pennsylvania as Director of the Department of Administrative Services and Chief Financial Officer. In that capacity, he was responsible for the administration and oversight of a wide range of activities including: finance, accounting, pension and payroll administration, purchasing, information technology, and human resources management.
He previously worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania from 2005-2011 in various roles with the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board and the Governor’s Office of Management and Productivity. His private sector experience includes consulting and management roles with IBM Global Services and CGI Group, Inc.
Bembenick holds a Master of Science in Public Policy and Management/Public Finance from Carnegie Mellon University, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon.
